How to choose the best toothpaste?

  • Complete protection toothpaste:  It is the most comprehensive of toothpaste, one that provides total protection of the mouth, whether teeth or gums. It guarantees a healthy mouth daily by fighting against the 8 main problems encountered: it reduces the appearance of cavities, plaque, tartar, and bacteria while strengthening the most sensitive gums and damaged enamel, guaranteeing a whitening action and leaving behind the fresh breath.
  • The cleaning and protective toothpaste, with targeted action: Several kinds of toothpaste offer targeted actions against specific problems, such as anti-caries toothpaste, anti-plaque, and anti-tartar toothpaste, or even toothpaste for sensitive teeth and gums. It is usually the dentists who indicate when to go for a targeted action toothpaste rather than a complete care toothpaste. It helps put an end more quickly to the problems encountered to find a healthier mouth.
  • Fresh breath toothpaste: It is the toothpaste designed for people who tend to have bad breath, either when they wake up or for the rest of the day. If most kinds of toothpaste generally offer a minty taste to provide a feeling of freshness in the mouth after brushing, this goes further by guaranteeing several hours of freshness, thanks to soluble crystals which dissolve in the mouth during brushing, for example.
  • Whitening toothpaste: It is the toothpaste that is mainly responsible for making the teeth whiter when the shade has been tarnished by nicotine for smokers or even tea and coffee for other people. There are two types of whitening toothpaste: those that clean the enamel on the surface to remove stains, and those that play with color pigments to reduce the yellow tint. If the first have a progressive action and the second offers an immediate solution, both are effective, on the other hand, to find a brighter smile.
  • Toothpaste for children: The action of toothpaste for children is fundamental (cleaning and elimination of bacteria), but it is still a vital toothpaste, especially for children under 6 years old. It contains less fluoride than in a regular toothpaste for adults, and this is essential since the ingestion of too much fluoride can be dangerous for the health of the little ones. And we all know that they tend always to swallow a bit of their toothpaste!

Toothpaste Active Ingredients

  • Fluoride and zinc: They allow the remineralization of teeth, to fight against cavities.
  • The different forms of potassium: Whether it is chloride, nitrate, or citrate of potassium, they participate in the desensitization of the gums and teeth.
  • Zinc: Zinc citrate and zinc chloride have antiseptic powers, to fight against bacteria. The same goes for triclosan.
  • Pyrophosphate: It is an anti-tartar agent; it prevents its appearance.
  •  Silica and alumina: They make it possible to clean the teeth better and come in addition to the toothbrush in the elimination of dental plaque (calcium carbonate also has the same effect).
  • Chamomile, sage, and arnica: The natural anti-inflammatory properties of these plants help especially to fight against gum problems (swelling, bleeding, etc.)

Tips for whiter teeth

  • Sage: Sage is antibacterial and astringent. For whiter teeth, you can easily chew or grate a sage leaf and mix it with your toothpaste!
  • Turmeric: simply use a toothbrush – ideally with a specially designed – a little bit of ground turmeric on your teeth and let it work for about 3 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly! The effect is rather subtle, but it helps!
  • Strawberries: This tip may sound somewhat contradictory at first, but the hydroxycarboxylic acid contained in the berries helps to remove stains. For an optimal result, crush a strawberry and mix with about 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. Then apply the resulting paste to the teeth and let it work for a maximum of 5 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly and brush your teeth. In order not to burden the enamel, it is advisable not to use this strawberry mixture more than once a week!
  • Baking powder: Baking soda works wonders for your teeth! It is best to mix a few teaspoons of baking soda with a little water or lemon juice into a paste and then apply it to the teeth. Rinse off after about a minute. After a while, you will notice a definite difference!
  • Banana peel: This tip is a little unusual, but relatively easy to try! Rub your teeth inside an organic banana peel for about 2 minutes. After another 10 minutes, brush your teeth with a toothbrush – initially without toothpaste – to distribute the abrasion well. At the very end, you can brush your teeth regularly. The minerals contained in the banana peel are said to get directly into the teeth in this way, which in turn should make them whiter. The procedure should be repeated at least once a day over approximately 3 weeks to achieve a good result!
  • Oil pulling:  The so-called oil pulling is a centuries-old cleaning ritual from Ayurveda, which among other things, serves to strengthen and clean teeth and gums. It also helps whiter teeth.
